Final Analysis

 18.01
Mike Harmon
TE Randy McMichael
QB: Romo Edwards Favre  RB: Slaton Ward TJones Greene McCoy Coffee
WR: Moss Housh Driver Holt Crayton TE: Shiancoe McMichael PK: DT: Chargers Seahawks

I had high hopes for McMichael in the St. Louis offense last year, but injury limited him to just four games. A revamped St. Louis offense puts McMichael into the spotlight for 2009. Torry Holt is gone, and coordinator
Pat Shurmur is emphasizing the need to get the ball out quickly and spread the field. With the offensive line
still a work in progress, I expect to see McMichael active over the middle, particularly in the red zone. He averaged 65 receptions during a three-year period in Miami. Given a full season of health, McMichael could push toward those numbers again.

18.02
Matt Pitzer (via Allan trade)
DT Buccaneers
QB: Rivers Palmer Quinn  RB: Jones-Drew Grant Lewis Norwood Morris
WR: Wayne RWilliams SMoss Curtis Heyward-Bay TE: Olsen Davis PK: DT: Packers Bucs

Not too wild about the Bucs because of all their changes, but I needed a second defense. Gone is
coordinator Monte Kiffin and LB Derrick Brooks. But they have added some talent recently and new coordinator Raheem Morris ought to keep his guys in line. All I need is for a couple of good games this
season and they ought to get that. I hope.

18.03

Chris Rito | Mike Nazarek
PK Jason Elam
QB: Warner Hasselbeck Collins  RB: Westbrook Addai Parker C Taylor
WR: AJohnson Colston Boldin Chambers Morgan Galloway
TE: Daniels Miller  PK: Elam DT: Ravens Vikings

What could be more consistent than drafting a guy that has NEVER failed to top 100 points in his 16-year
NFL career? He regularly gets 30+ FG attempts each year...and makes most of them. After moving to the Falcons last year he still had a top 10 season in our FAD scoring system despite playing with an erratic
offense under a rookie coach and a rookie QB with only one receiving option and a RB new to the system!
Add in Tony Gonzalez and another year of overall team maturation, and one could reasonably expect the offense to put him in scoring position at least as much and probably more in 2009. We are pleased to get
our 3rd overall rated kicker in the 18th round as the 8th kicker taken.

18.04

John Georgopoulos
DT Panthers
QB: Cutler EManning Sanchez RB: D Williams Portis Lynch R Williams
WR: DJackson Breaston Walter Hester Bruce Randle El
TE: Gates Scaife PK: Akers DT: Steelers Panthers

As a pairing with the Steelers defense, this is looking good. I was hoping for either the Jets, Titans or Eagles
to fall to me here. But the Panthers, with defense-minded HC John Fox, love to pound opponents on either
side of the ball. I could do worse for D/ST2.

18.05
Brian Hulett
PK Phil Dawson
QB: Ryan Bulger  RB: Gore McFadden Stewart McClain Faulk
WR: Jennings Marshall Henderson Coles Camarillo Jenkins TE: Cooley Heap PK: Dawson  DT: Bears Titans
Never be afraid to draft a cold-weather kicker.  Ask Adam Vinatieri, Mason Crosby, and Jason Elam, all of whom have been top toe at various times in the past while kicking in New England, Green Bay, and Denver.

Several years ago I did a careful analysis of the "dome kicker" theory and found it to be hogwash.  And while
I'm as fond of a clean hog as anybody, I'd prefer not to be caught in the wash.  Gimme a kicker on a team
with a decent offense AND defense and you'll find a kicker with opportunity and a kicker whose team values 3-pointers.  Gimme Phil.

18.06

Tony Holm
DT Redskins
QB: McNabb Orton Campbell  RB: CJohnson KSmith Thomas McGahee Sproles
WR: CJohnson Bryant Berrian Hixon Maclin Walker TE: Witten Boss  PK: Crosby  DT: Redskins

I really like the Redskins as a sleeper D this year and was hoping I'd be in position to draft them.  DT Albert Haynesworth coming over from the Titans, arguably the best run stopping tackle in the league and the drafting of DE Brian Orakpo from Texas with the 13th pick overall who will play OLB will boost their pass rush in a big way.  The Redskins invested a lot in their defense both in free agency and the draft and I think they'll surprise a bit.  The one thing I don't particularly like is that they get to play the Cowboys, Giants and Eagles twice but they have a shot to be a dominant D once the new pieces start to click and surprise a lot of folks.

18.07

Duane Cahill
DT Texans
QB: Manning Flacco RB: SJackson Jacobs LJohnson Mendenhall
WR: Royal Ward Crabtree Burress Henry Engram Robiskie TE: Gonzalez Keller  PK: Gostkowski Longwell  DT: Texans
The Texans are an up-and-coming defense, and it's been my strategy to grab defensive teams that are on the rise.  Mario Williams is one of the league's superstars on the line, and Amobi Okoye needs to bounce back from his unproductive second year after setting the world on fire as a rook.  The drafting of Brian Cushing to
join DeMeco Ryans makes this defense one to watch.

18.08

Craig Davis
WR Brandon Jones
QB: Schaub Cassel RB: Forte Barber FJones Jackson Maroney Choice

WR: Bowe Edwards Holmes Austin Harvin BJones TE: Carlson Scheffler  PK: Gould: DT: Cowboys
Brandon Jones has never really had a chance to show what he’s capable of being in the Titans offense, so
I’m actually expecting a much better season in San Francisco. His talent is very clear from his days at the University of Oklahoma. Now it just needs to equate into NFL talent and he could find himself in the mix for
the first team offense on the depth chart.

18.09

Greg Kellogg
DT Bills
QB: Brady DelHomme RB: Tomlinson Wells DBrown Fargas Bush
WR: Owens VJackson Mason SSmith Burleson Britt
TE: Clark Ingram  PK: DT: Jets Bills
With two kickers and a second defense left to get, it becomes a crapshoot of trying to predict which defense will get the most turnovers.  Buffalo added an edge rusher and has two pretty good DEs coming back from injury.  With the addition of Terrell Owens on offense, this defense should be protecting more leads which usually leads to more turnovers.  And I love their return game which also figures in to defensive scoring in this league.

18.10

Ian Allan (via Pitzer trade)
PK Jeff Reed
QB: Roethlisberger Garrard Leftwich  RB: Bush White Benson Rice Washington Bradshaw
WR: SSmith Welker Gonzalez Ochocinco Muhammad
TE: Celek Miller PK: Reed DT: Patriots Dolphins
I don’t think I’ve ever finished with more Steelers than Duane Cahill in a fantasy league, but that’s the way this thing is headed. He’s got Rashard Mendenhall and Hines Ward. I’ve got Ben Roethlisberger, Heath Miller and now Reed. I don’t know if that’s a good sign or not. I think Reed will be solid. He has to deal with kicking off
the often sloppy surface at Heinz Field, but it hasn’t slowed him down too much. Over the last two years, only two teams have converted a higher percentage of field goals. The Steelers have a much easier schedule this year, so I think there’s a good chance he’ll rank in the top 5 in kicking points. My one concern is that he will somehow run afoul of the league’s off-field conduct guidelines and get suspended for a few games. He’s a
real party animal, with numerous incidents over the last few years (for the complete run-down, go to Deadspin.com).

18.11

Tony Holm (via Cannon trade)
PK Kris Brown
QB: McNabb Orton Campbell  RB: CJohnson KSmith Thomas McGahee Sproles
WR: CJohnson Bryant Berrian Hixon Maclin Walker TE: Witten Boss  PK: Crosby Brown  DT: Redskins:
Brown was as steady as they come last season.  He's kicking for a high powered offense on an improved
team and the team has faith in his abilities.  Hard to ask for much more out of a kicker.  Brown is high on my kicker list so happy to get him here.

===================================================================================

18.12

Chris Dolfi | Tom Walls
PK Garrett Hartley
QB: Rodgers Hill Pennington RB: Peterson RBrown JJones Hightower Graham
WR: White Evans Avery Ginn Gage Bradley
TE: Fasano  PK: Bironas Hartley DT: PHI
Team Dolfi/Walls has a couple of hard and fast rules:

- You don't need two high scoring kickers in the FAD
- No fat chicks

While Walls may have lapsed a bit on the second rule in the late 1990s,we have stayed true to rule 1; until
now.

Garrett Hartley emerged as the Saints kicker last year, and proved a steady producer in the second half of 2008. Hartley should score in bunches with the Saints offense (and sadly for Saints fans, their defense).
Hartley could very easily by a top 5 kicker, and his value here was too good to pass up. Like that one chick,
at the Gaff in State College...after 10 dollar beers. Oy
