Our
WR corps is thinner than we would have liked in this draft, so
adding a risk/reward WR pick at 17.01 is in order. Sure,
Bradley only had 30 catches for 380yds and 3 TDs last year, but
he is in the perfect spot to improve upon those numbers in 2009.
KC lost their leading receiver, all-pro TE Tony Gonzalez, and
the 96 passes that went his way last year will need to go to
somebody (and we don't see that somebody being new
TE Brad Cottam). The entire WR corps should see their
catches improve, with Bradley being one of the
main beneficiaries. Don't forget that KC improved their
passing game with the addition of QB Matt Cassel from NE in this
off-season. Toss in the fact that the Chiefs are likely
going to have to play at least a few
'catch up' games in 2009, and we think Bradley should double his
numbers from last year.

Please allow me to
share my thoughts on selecting this PK1... PK Bironas was my
target for the job.
With him being claimed, it come down to two kickers. While I
wanted Folk from the local Cowboys, two things scared
me away from getting him now - 1)
Cowboys drafted the only rookie PK, 2) The uncertainly of the Cowboy's
offense exist. In short, Folk is no sure thing to be productive
each month As for Kaeding, he is like most all professionals
- He's very, very good. The same SD offensive coaches and
players are back again in 2009,
so odds are that Kaeding can
sustain his wonderful productive pace for another year.

This is kind of a risky pick, but
the Packers were a top-five defense in interceptions and led
the league in defensive TDs. The risk comes from them
converting to a 3-4 defense, but that might help a paltry sack
total. And it could also cause the defense to self-destruct
from its otherwise marginal status last year.

I
had wanted to round out my defenses here but Pitzer jumped up
and stole my second ranked team, the Packers. So I had to shift
strategies and opted for a guy that I think can have a couple
really big games this year. Ingram has a quarterback who has
used the tight end in the past and if he is fully recovered from
his leg injury he has the perfect situation to serve as my
backup.

Might as well make it the trifecta. Someone is going to take
charge in this Dallas backfield, and with the offensive line as
talented as it is, the RB position is going to flourish. Choice
might not see the field much, but can't hurt to have him as a
viable backup in case Barber or Jones go down.

My original thought here was to
pick up a defense in the next two rounds and to take a deep
sleeper at WR in the 19th. With Robiskie still on the
board though, I'm going to switch that up and go with the guy
on the board who seems to have the greatest opportunity to
produce this year.
Cleveland needs a receiver
opposite Braylon Edwards. Dante Stallworth's problems
have been well-chronicled, and even if he manages to steer
clear of the long arm of the law, Robiskie just may flat beat
him out as the Browns' WR2. He's not fast. But
he's 6'3" and comes into the league with a reputation
of
being one of the best route-runners to come into the league in
quite awhile. Either possible starting
Cleveland QB will appreciate knowing that his receiver is
going to be where he's supposed to be.
Robiskie will likely be a steady
performer - not ideal for this format (I made it through 16
rounds without using that phrase) but he'll be a nice
insurance pick in case Plaxico (my round 10 pick) doesn't find
his way back
into the league is year.

I debated the Titans D here but
decided to grab what I consider to be one of the top 3
K's in this draft. Obviously others don't believe in
Mason Crosby since he is still available after a string of
kickers have been drafted but for me, he's the #3, possibly #2 overall
K in this draft so I'm pleased with the selection.
Crosby is
on a high octane offense that can put points on the board and
he will get a lot of opportunities. He did struggle
at the very end of the year but one thing I've discovered is
consistency in a kicker is rare and throughout their careers
they have on-again, off-again seasons. I like Crosby to
have a big year and be an under valued
kicker on draft day.

The last time I was in on this
contest I chose only one defensive unit, preferring to add an
extra position-player sleeper to my roster. I reasoned
that I'd only be without defensive points for one week, if I
hit on the sleeper
I'd be better off, and that there's no injury risk in having
only one defense.
It was an experiment that failed.
I finished poorly. I won't make that mistake again.
Looking at the two D units I've
chosen this year, both finished in the top eight last season
in FanEx scoring
(136 and 134 pts). Respectable enough. But if the
same owner had both squads, he would have had a net gain of
102 points over owning only one of them.

A complete flyer on the rookie QB the Jets traded up to grab on

Joey Galloway has always been an inconsistent week-to-week
performer capable of one big play for a long score; this style
of fantasy performer is absolutely perfect for a
"bench" receiver in a "best ball"
format.
Despite his age he still has ludicrous speed, and will certainly
get single coverage on the outside with Randy and Wes lurking
about; in the unfortunate event of an injury to one of those two
guys, he steps in as a starter
for the Patriots with some glorious potential. We have been
debating the selection of both he and WR Bryant Johnson DET for
several rounds, and finally decided that the #3 option in a
high-powered passing attack was too good a value to pass up
here.

I think the Dolphins should have a pretty good pass rush.
They’ve got Joey Porter, who had 17.5 sacks last year, and
they’re now re-adding Jason Taylor to the mix. The secondary
was a problem with this team last
year, but they addressed that area in the offseason, drafting
Vernon Davis’ little brother and signing free
agent safety Gibril Wilson, who bombed in Oakland but was a good
player in 2007 with the Giants. Ted Ginn has been a
disappointment so far, but he could help Miami finish
above-average in kick returns.

Chargers Seahawks |
The Seahawks experienced a down year across the board in 2008,
and I’m intrigued to see this unit perform behind a better,
more consistent offense. The addition of Aaron Curry gives the
Seahawks another
playmaker in the middle, and a healthy Patrick Kerney will force
the issue on the edge. Seattle ranked among the leaders in the
sack department in 2008. Now, look for a better, more consistent
effort should the offense stay healthy.
