Final Analysis

 16.01
Mike Harmon
DT Chargers
QB: Romo Edwards Favre  RB: Slaton Ward TJones Greene McCoy Coffee
WR: Moss Housh Driver Holt Crayton TE: Shiancoe PK: DT: Chargers

I’m excited to see this unit return healthy in 2009. Shawne Merriman is back, and Antonio Cromartie will have recovered from the hip injury that limited him all year. The offense will once again rank among the league’s most potent units, thereby giving the line an opportunity to pin its ears back and go to work.

16.02
Matt Pitzer (via Allan trade)
QB Brady Quinn
QB: Rivers Palmer Quinn  RB: Jones-Drew Grant Lewis Norwood Morris
WR: Wayne RWilliams SMoss Curtis Heyward-Bay TE: Olsen Davis PK: DT:
I was looking for a third starting quarterback to insure against a serious injury to one of my first two. The best option was Quinn and he clearly is a far thing to even start for the Browns. But he brings some upside and might be useful for a game or two.

16.03

Chris Rito | Mike Nazarek
WR Josh Morgan
QB: Warner Hasselbeck Collins  RB: Westbrook Addai Parker C Taylor
WR: AJohnson Colston Boldin Chambers Morgan
TE: Daniels Miller  PK: DT: Ravens Vikings

This pick was a "swing for the fences" as the second-year man for the Niners has all the tools to be an elite
WR in the NFL, and has the only serious possibility of being his NFL team's WR#1 of all the other guys still undrafted. He was showing signs of breaking out in 2008 when an injury derailed his season in week 10, and recent reports out of the Niners' OTAs indicate that he is catching everything in sight from every QB they
place under center. As they have had him working at both the "X" and "Z" positions, it appears that the team
is going to make sure he is on the field regardless of the development and recovery of their 2009 first rounder, Michael Crabtree. We strongly considered Chicago's Earl Bennett here, but bye week conflicts forced us to hope he slid one more round to be our WR#6 (although he went to TC just a few picks later)

16.04

John Georgopoulos
TE Bo Scaife
QB: Cutler EManning RB: D Williams Portis Lynch R Williams
WR: DJackson Breaston Walter Hester Bruce Randle El
TE: Gates Scaife PK: Akers DT: Steelers

Scaife is a pleasant find in this slot. He’ll be a fine bye-week replacement for Gates, and he can have the occasional strong game.

16.05
Brian Hulett
DT Bears
QB: Ryan Bulger  RB: Gore McFadden Stewart McClain Faulk
WR: Jennings Marshall Henderson Coles Camarillo Jenkins TE: Cooley Heap PK: DT: Bears
All together now:  "Da Bearssss."  There now, don't you feel better?  I know I do.

Unsure why the CHI-town defense has lasted this long, now that other owners are choosing their defenders.
It's the only squad that's been in the top eight in FanEx scoring in each of the previous two seasons.  But
OK, I'll take 'em.

16.06

TC Cannon (via Davis trade)
WR Earl Bennett
QB: Brees Russell RB: Turner Moreno FTaylor Charles BJackson
WR: Fitzgerald SMoss Cotchery Moore Nicks Bennett TE: Winslow Shockey PK:  DT: Giants

A fairly insignificant trade allowed this selection to be made. My 16 + 18 for Holm's now + 19. I have been
eying Bennett as a long-shot WR pick and could wait no longer. Thanks for the trade, Tony.

In truth, it's difficult for me to like any of the Bear receivers. The addition of Cutler allows there to be some hope that they can be more productive. If improvement happens, WR Bennett seems the best candidate to benefit. After having -0- receptions for 2008, optimism abounds. After all, Bennett was a NCAA star (He
holds the SEC record for career receptions). And, guess who tossed him a few balls? He was Cutler's go-to guy. In fact, Cutler's final play in college was the game-winning touchdown pass to teammate Bennett against Tennessee. Maybe they can do the same for the Bears.

(Oh. And, if you're looking for him on the field, be aware that Bennett switched his jersey number from No. 85 to
No. 80. O
ptimism abounds. Grin.)

16.07

Duane Cahill
PK Ryan Longwell
QB: Manning Flacco RB: SJackson Jacobs LJohnson Mendenhall
WR: Royal Ward Crabtree Burress Henry Engram TE: Gonzalez Keller  PK: Gostkowski Longwell  DT:
It's odd that I have both TEs in the fold before the 15th round, so with only defenses and a sleeper or two to go, I guess I might as well go with the stud kicker theory.

The Vikings kicker is always a good fantasy play, dating back to the days of Fuad Reveiz, so picking up Longwell as Gostkowski's backup is a prudent move.  Kickers aren't always consistent, but by having two of
the top scorers in the fold, I'll have more good weeks than bad coming from that position.

16.08

Craig Davis
PK Robbie Gould
QB: Schaub Cassel  RB: Forte Barber FJones Jackson Maroney

WR: Bowe Edwards Holmes Austin Harvin  TE: Carlson Scheffler  PK: Gould: DT: Cowboys
Normally don't take a kicker this early in a 20-round draft, but anyone I choose from here on out is going to
have some risk/reward anyhow. Gould should have more scoring opportunities with Jay Cutler running the show.

16.09

Greg Kellogg
DT Jets
QB: Brady DelHomme RB: Tomlinson Wells DBrown Fargas Bush
WR: Owens VJackson Mason SSmith Burleson Britt
TE: Clark  PK: DT: Jets
Call me a Rex Ryan believer.  He is the man behind the Baltimore dominance and with the folks he brought over should jump start the Jets from the defense first.  Having a strong running game and a rookie
quarterback should also allow that defense plenty of chances on the field.

16.10

Ian Allan (via Pitzer trade)
DT Patriots
QB: Roethlisberger Garrard Leftwich  RB: Bush White Benson Rice Washington Bradshaw
WR: SSmith Welker Gonzalez Ochocinco Muhammad
TE: Celek Miller PK: DT: Patriots
The Patriots slipped a notch on defense last year. The pass rush dropped off from 47 to 31 sacks, and they
got lousy play in the secondary. But I think they’ll move back in the right direction. They added a couple of cornerbacks in the offseason, Shawn Springs and Leigh Bodden, who should fit well into their scheme.
They’ve still got the great defensive line, with Richard Seymour and Vince Wilfork, and linebacker Jerod
Mayo is an up-and-comer. Special teams are always well coached. Three years in a row, New England has ranked in the top 4 on kickoff returns, and three years in a row they’ve been top 12 on punt returns. I’ve got
them as the No. 9 defense on my board.

16.11

Tony Holm (via Cannon trade)
WR Mike Walker
QB: McNabb Orton Campbell  RB: CJohnson KSmith Thomas McGahee Sproles
WR: CJohnson Bryant Berrian Hixon Maclin Walker TE: Witten Boss  PK: DT:
This selection pretty much concludes my FanEx FAD draft.  The rest of the way will be defenses and kickers.
I was going WR here just because of the numbers and the 3 starters per week minimum at the position.  I
have a set FAD formula, 3 QBs, 5 RBs, 6 WRs, 2 TEs, 2 Ks and 2 Ds.  This leaves me with K's and D's and I purposely left them to be my final 4 picks which is what I do in 20 round drafts.  In shorter drafts I will swoop in and grab a K or D a little earlier but in a 20 rounder I'll just wait till the end and bulk up on positional guys early that can help the team.

The Jaguars are receiver strapped and Mike Walker is ahead of Dennis Northcutt for the job opposite Torry Holt.  Walker is a 3rd year guy and receivers tend to come out of their shell in their 3rd year.  I'm a David Garrard fan and believe that the #2 Jaguars receiver with Torry Holt on the field will see a lot of action -- and
all signs point to Mike Walker being that guy.  Walker has a ton of upside, opportunity, a good QB and little competition, the pieces just all seem to fit.

16.12

Chris Dolfi | Tom Walls
PK Rob Bironas
QB: Rodgers Hill Pennington RB: Peterson RBrown JJones Hightower Graham
WR: White Evans Avery Ginn Gage
TE: Fasano  PK: Bironas DT: PHI
This is a pretty simple write up...Bironas was the last of the elite kickers on the board. He scored #4 in this league last year, and we believe he will do about the same this year.

The Titans aren't the most exciting offensive team, and play it pretty safe. Bironas will get plenty of
opportunities to put 3 points up as the Titans play a lot of low scoring games; and take points when they can
get them.
